£150 this time tho and the pic he is using is allegedly the one ive bought and should receive later, i'll let you all know how it goes..
Well its arrived and ive got it in the tank, its nothing like the picture at all and in very poor shape £130 this cost, once its more settled and i know its going to survive i will take pics, for now i just need to let it settle and hopefully take some food as its so skinny
It's surprising how resilient these fish can be sometimes. My first two (one of which Rob took away with him when he was here last month) lived for around 9 months in a LFS tank, nitrates over 100ppm, pH around 8.2 and Serpae Tetras for tank mates. They were skinny and had bites taken out of all their fins. Within two weeks, you'd never know they'd had anything other than a charmed life!
Just give your little guy some peace, and a nice hidey place. Good water and food and hopefully he/she'll be fine, with a little luck!
Thanks Mindy, i hope its gonna be ok, im thinking its a female, its 2.5" with no whiskers etc but when i can i'll get pics and hopefully find out for sure, for now its hiding in the back corner, it has its colour back and seems alot better, heres hoping!
I agree with mindy, put the lights out to help it settle in. Keep any eye on it's breathing, and check how listless it is. If it has the ability to move quickly by tomorrow evening ti is probably settling in ok.

The perfect white lie..."Of course I didn't pay that much for the fish honey"
Do you ever feed your fish fresh garlic? Sounds weird, I know, but it's really good for them and can help keep internal nasties down. I tend to thaw out a bloodworm (or whatever) cube and then really mash up a clove of garlic (I use a mortar and pestle to get it into a juicy paste, but you could use a plate and the back of a spoon to do the same job). Then I just stir the garlic and all the juice into the food, let it steep for a minute or two and drop it in. I do this quite often in my community tank and some of the fish even eat the raw garlic!! It's a good tonic. It really needs to be fresh garlic though.
My personal choice is to use organic fresh garlic, as it's not much more expensive than the non-organic, and then there's less chance of chemicals, etc. Normal garlic tends to have growth inhibitors on it to stop it sprouting on the shelf!
Mine must like peas too because there are some in the "forum recipe" and the last lot I made came out a bit lumpier than the previous one. There are still some complete half peas in the mix, and I never find any leftover in the morning. The same in my community tank. SOMEONE is seeking out peas for their dinner! Aren't they funny little things...
