The rouge tank

It's set up from scratch, and I'm crossing my fingers things will stabilize this time. There's never been anything but trouble in this tank...

The params are:

Tetmp 27C
GH 7
KH 6
PH 6.8
NO2 0
NO3 0

I seeded the tank so it should be cycled, but I'll wait a bit before moving fish in, as there's too much CO2 in it at present, thought I should give the plants a kick start.

I guess this would be slightly off topic, as it's a fish soup tank, and not dedicated to Zebras, but I'm going to have several og my other catfish in it

Again, the heater is not going to sit where it is now, I keep it there til I've managed to calibrate it only

It remains to be seen how it develops though - I'm sceptical but hopeful that it will be better than it was.

no, it's a 3D thingy you put inside the tank, made in plastic but looks rather natural

What a beautiful setup, it will look stunning with zebras in it as well. I think we should ahve a web cam on this one as well.

The background is manufactured by AquaEl. I can't seem to find a homepage for this company though, but I think they're made in Poland.

My LFS (well, not so local, it's an hour and half drive from where I live) stock them. <commercial break>This store has an amazing stock of accessories and fish, better than any in Oslo, so I gladly go down there to do my shopping. </commercial break>

I choose not to use silicon as that's past the point of no return, and I don't like those

it's got a net attached to each side to prevent fish from getting behind it, so it works just fine to simply let the sand and gravity hold it in place. it's also got several holes covered by net to allow the water to flow behind it. I sew a plant to this netting to cover it, and place the intake for the external filter behind it. Works great

Good idea. Usually if you don't silicone them into place they are terrible for storing bit of food and debris behind it.....not so good for the fish.... but your idea is clever.

does anyone know were you might be able to get hold off one of the plastic moulded backdrops as i think they look great but have no joy in finding one

I don't know about the vailability in the UK, but I would think it should be better than up here as there's a bigger market in the UK..

I'm not so sure I would recommend back to nature, although their backgrounds are stunning, they take quite some space from your tank. in a 50 cm deep tank 15 - 25 will be taken up by the background. But for larger tanks they're great! Minimum 350 liters...

The Aquael I have build only 5 cm.
