well i dont want to count my chickens before they hatch but the female zebra i bought a few weeks ago is now trapped in a cave with my big male.... i woke up this morning and she was in there, i looked in all the usual places and got more and more excited as i couldnt find her... the last place i looked was in my big males cave and she is at the back of it with him covering the entrance....
im pretty exicted...!
i assume i just cross my fingers and leave them to it?
do i carry on with normal feeding and water changes?
cheers,
andrew

any ideas how long she should be in there for? is it a case of the longer the better or what?
I had a female in for 4 days without any results and a female for several hours with a nice spawn, so all you can do is wait for the result, no predictions can be made timewise

I do it just the opposite way. I always use my trusty flashlight (torch) to check all the caves - usually twice a day. Since I have gotten a lot of fry, I assume it doesnt prevent spawning at all. Once I get eggs this can go to 3 times a day cause I am such a nervous nellie I have to keep checking.
As for spawning and how long the fm is in the cave. I have found there seems to be little correlation between the amount of time and the likelyhood of getting eggs. Have seen it both ways.
Got my fingers crossed for you AC
What makes the common person uncommon is common sense.
Good luck Andrew, my L066 female is traped in a cave for fift dag today and still no eggs. Last time was in for half dag and spawned, so i think if the female is not ready she wont do it but the male like you know he wont give up
(3rd day she's been in the cave) and iv just got back in to find her out the cave but waiting along side it.... the big male who was in the cave with her is in another cave...!! no signs or eggs and the other male who has been chased out his cave and is hiding behind rocks....
its the first time my males have swapped caves and i dont know why.... it couldnt of happened at a worst time...
so what do i do now?? will she find the male in another cave a try again? or do i interfere??
gutted
