tank setup

hi i have setup a 85 liter tank i have 5 adult zebras 2 males 3 females i plan on breeding them in this tank,is this size tank ok to keep 5 zebras and breed them ????

too small I'd say - we had problems with 5 mature zebs in a 120l....

I am an incorrigible overstocker, and this includes zebras. An 85 liter tanks is about 23 US gallons and could be big enough, imo, if it is not a tall tank but rather one with less height and more area. In the US we can get a 20 gallon long (75 liters) which measures 30x12x13 inches (76x30.5x31cm). This would be sufficient for your needs as long as you provide a whole lot of cover in the form of hiding places besides caves.

I keep my breeding colony of 11 adults and numerous fry in a 30 gallon (113 liter) breeder tank. It measures 36x18x13 inches (91.5x46x33cm).

Please remember as I noted above- I do overstock regularly and many folks will disagree with how I do things.

I've found that 6 in a 120 Liter is ideal. 5 in a 85L, especially with two males seem way too much to me.

Eve- those fish are in a slightly larger tank than 85- its more like 115. This morning I rescued 3 eggs booted from a cave. I am pretty sure there is a spawn in the prime breeding cave with the alpha male. He is an experienced dad so I am at a loss as to where the 3 eggs originated. Fatty and the #3 male are in caves with no eggs.

Just to give an idea of how much cover is in the breeder tank- right now I assume there are 11 breeders plus somewhere around 35-50 fry. If I work hard to try tp spot fish I might be able findy 6 or 7 adults and maybe 6 or 8 fry.
