Got a few piccys of them in the tank today.

They are hanging out in small groups of 5-6 :)

They are actually really active.

Here are the group I could get piccys of. Both have dad in the foreground having swapped caves :)

That's well good news how's Ben doing? my wife is expecting
we have just over 9weeks til the due date.

Your tank looks great! I don't know you well at all but I can
tell you put a lot of hard work into this it couldn't have happened
to a nicer person.

Please show more pics when you can :D

cheers Chris :)

Is this your first? If so - brace yourself :D
It was the happiest day of my life - cant explain it. smiles tears etc.

Ben is doing great :) - hes sleeping really well (when he lets himself go to sleep - aparently he takes after me, I used to scream to keep myself awake  ) Last night he slep in his own room, from 21:00 through till 6:00 :D (but I might have slept through Lorna going to feed him during that time)

Touch wood its going very well.

As for the zebs - My ISP has just migrated my website so hopefully the pictures will be up reliably now (but it looks like its lost the latest ones in the change over)

Its all going off at teh moment - We've trying to raise Syno Petricola fry in our lounge tank at the moment and in the zeb tank I think we have Pygmy cory eggs too, they might be Pitbull plec eggs - but looking at the way the pygmys are behaving it more likely to be them, We'll know when the eggs hatch :)

wow - its been ages since I last posted an update...

Unfortunatly its a bit of bad news... I flushed our first dead fry yesterday. It was looking rather skinny compared to the others so i think it was an isolated problem rather than a problem in the tank.

I havent got many more pics either - they hide in the shadows and run when they see me coming :)

Couple more from when they were 19 days old...

And one from when they were 30 days old - swapped a cave and one hung on - so I put it in the trap and took a photo before letting him out :)

Its their 6 week birthday today :)

Good going, nice looking bunch of baby zebras you have there :D

at the moment I'm about to tear the tank down to catch the fry...

We have lost 4 (at least). The deads we have removed all look skinny compared to the others in the tank.

I want to put them in a breeding trap so I can ensure they are getting food ;)

Moving them into a grow out isnt going to be happening any time soone - they are still really small ;)

But my office tank has slightly more room avaialble now. so I think they will end up in there once the are bigger... Will be very nice to have zebs in more tanks :D

right then folks... I stripped the tank and had a bit of a clear out...
The juvenile L183 have been moved (8 of them) as have the Pitbulls (4) and 2 amano shrimp so there are just the adult zebs and a group of 20+ pygmies in the tank now...

I spent well over an hour in the tank without the decorations and with my wife (Lorna) with a torch. We have found 4 dead fry over the last few days and collected 9 fry today. 8 of them all look nice and plump - one looks like the bodies of the other 4 we have lost, quite thin and smaller that the rest.

The fry are now all in a breeding trap happily darting about and feeding :)
Fingers crossed the little one will be able to get enough food now to pull through... but I'm not holding my breath.

Here are some pictured from today :)
They are 46 days old now - Time flys!!
(the one that is not looking good is circled in red)

sorry for your loss

Natures way the strong live & the weak die.
I have about 200 albino bn in a growout tank at the moment, every now and then one dies for no reason, just as some grow faster than others.

I got 5 zebs 30mm long on the 4 sept 2006, yesterday i found 1 dead, never really grew maybe 5mm. But the other 4 are between 50-65mm looking fat and healthy. Maybe a certain percentage die, natures way so the strong live on and reproduce.
Anyway good luck with the ones you have left, they all look like nice babies.

Zebra Regards
