Hi I have four home made natural slate caves that my L260s and L134s lived in. I have sold a few (same size etc) to a friend with zebras and he got his first spawn last month. I'd be willing to accept £3.50/cave and P & P. Let me know. I can email you a picture of them if you PM me your email. C...

Your set-up sounds good. If it is purely for breeding purposes I would not recommend sand. I have used it, and it looks good, but it just gets in the way, especially if your tank is simply for breeding....you will want and need the cleanest possible tank. :D Good luck in breeding them! :D

I don't think you can really make much money from breeding any fish unless you run fish farms in the far east (or similar areas). You can't go far wrong if you do it for the love of breeding them. Any cash is nearly always just a bonus and IME is ploughed straight back into the hobby.

Just for the record a constant temp. of 30C for 10 days DOES definitely KILL ich. I can say this confidentally as I have used this method to successfully wipe out ich on a number of occasions over the last few years. I have never used medication or salt or anything other treatment in conjunction wit...

This is certainly an interesting discussion and topic. However, I have still heard nothing to suggest I should be using salt as a tonic for freshwater fish, especially with catfish. Personally, I very, very rarely treat my tank (sadly down to just the one now) with any chemicals. The last occasion w...

McEve, see my above post, I openly admit I do not (have not bothered to find out) know the scientific reason behind not using salt with catfish. Caesars, the addition of low level salt reduces the osmotic stress on fish, it will not "flush" out parasites or "fight" disease. as fa...

I have lost a good number of corys for seemingly no reason during my early fish keeping days. At the time I use to use Tonic salt as I was buying new fish etc and Ich was commonly being fought. As a result of the cory deaths I asked a breeder of all types of fish, especially corys and plecs and he s...

I second Barbie's post. I can't recall the last time I used chemicals to treat Ich. Especially in a plec tank. Just crank up the temp. to 30C for 7-10 days, increase the oxygen and current and which your fish for any stress as a result of the temps. HOWEVER, with hypancistrus, they like the warmer/h...
