The 6 L46 Quiz

We all know how difficult it is to identify the sex of these fish, so please post a picture in here and we'll try to help you (or at least give an educated guess!).

The 6 L46 Quiz

Post by valhallan »

I thought I'd let the pros have a go at sexing these  The first three may be too small at 1.75", but it's worth a try anyway. The others are, 2.25", 2.25" and 2.5" respectively.

Come on Guys.... Nothing like a bit of a challenge.

OK, I'll start the ball rolling so that you can laugh at my predictions.

Due to the age I am basing these purely on Pectorial fin shape, something I am becoming more and more convinced can identify the sex of the fish.

So...here it goes.

1 - Male
2 - Female
3 - Male
4 - Male
5 - Female
6 - Female

Thanks for the help Rob :D I was pretty stumped with these guys because of the lack of interopercular odontal growth, I'm not too hot at just using body/fin shape for IDing yet. Nevertheless, it's good to hear that there's possibly a nice ratio in this group.
