Its too small to read the rivers......can you blow it up on your side and than upload it again???

Where did the map come from? Maybe it's explained there what the color codes mean?

it came from a discussite the colors indicate the habitat of the different wild discus species,
-heckel discus
-brown discus
-green discus
-blue discus

the rio xingu is very very close to the coast,i see on this map.
can the seawater be of any influence on the rio xingu?

do you have the address? I know somebody that would like to use this map for an article, but it's always wise to ask first - due to copyright.

Actually, it might be wise to always include the source of an image one hasen't taken/made oneself

In answer to your question about the inflenceof the sea water, I read somewhere that there are millions of gallons of fresh water from the Amazon, flowing into the sea every day , therefore diluting the seawater for a few hundred miles. Fortunately it is not the other way around .

If you want to know more about the amazon and the rivers within I recommend you buy the book from The Smithsonian - Atlas Of The Amazon. It's a very nice illustrated book with a good description of all the rivers.
