Barbie wishes she knew!

Julies fish have more uneven barring and are full grown. They are definitely not L333, IMO. I can't be positive they ARE L236, even though the exporter listed them as such, but they are closer than any others I've seen.

The fish in du ma's picture are probably L333, in looking at the eye color and patterning and what not. My L333 are now under suspicion of being L318, due to the lack of yellow in the pattern and more black than white. My fish are also very large. I'm holding my vote til I see what these fry look like at a couple inches.

Kevin just sent me some fish that he bought as L173 (which obviously they weren't) that I think might be L236 also. I'm going to try to take pictures, if I can manage them with the fish still in the quarantine tank. They're just settling in and I hate to net them out already just to get pictures. I probably won't be able to stand it though, so keep it tuned here ;). These fish are 4 inches or so, not as large as Julies, so the patterning would be expected to be more defined, IMO.

I'm as confused on this one as everyone else, I'm sorry to say.

I think there not, man.....I guess if you take a pic with the tail up a flared out, we might tell if its a L333....But these really look like Julies L236...I personally like the other ones on planetcatfish and the one adam posted.
But Who knew?? I might check that place out tomorrow....do they have any other cool plecs?

they got some queen arabesque, 114, scarlet, royal,i think theres a few golden nugget left, king tigers, and theres like a about 2 more others.

if you are going tomorrow, i strongly recommend you to call those mofos first. theyre closed most of the times i go. but theyre nice people(except of this one foo who follows you around all the time scrutinizing your @$$ making sure that you dont put any fishes in your pocket  while he's pretending that he's working on something near you), the boss gives me discounts and i didnt even ask for it. the only thing i dont like is their messed up schedule. but their stuff is pretty cheap

Two of the fish I got from Kevin have very clear patterning, 3 are somewhat muddy. I've noticed in my L260 that the females aren't as brightly colored as adults. There was just no way to get pictures of these guys without hauling them out of the tank. I'm going to let them acclimate for a few more days before that. They do have the deeply forked tail and a few other things that point towards L236, but I intend to just trust the crew at PC to sort it out.

Julie's fish are also larger than the ones I got from Kevin, so the pattern would be darker, IMO. I'll get pics of those when they get here also ;).

Soooooo....Du ma.. Whens your next trip to the UK?  I'm sure you would have some room for a few wee zebras in your luggage. Obviously you may need to leave a few of those here just to make sure.

Definately looks like you got a bargain there sir!

Great find Duma :D , definately looks like L236 to me. Predominantly white with black markings and the tail is well forked too. Did you get the fish from the same pet shop we were talking about a while back? It looks very different to the ones in the pictures you originally posted. Like Barbie said if there are any more with markings like that go back for them NOW  .

I actually broke out the new aqualog this morning and was comparing the pictures of L236 in it to the Datz. I'm relatively certain now that the fish Julie got as L236 really are. There is quite a bit more variation in them pictured there. They say "see also L173" but the fish are from two different rivers. I guess I'm going to have to get a map and see if the two converge or something to where it's possible they're related.

Ergh, I'm going to have the fish I bought as L173 from Kevin, the L173 from Julie, and the L236. Methinks I need more tanks! Yeah, well that always seems to be the problem or I wouldn't be up to 1250 gallons of water and still nowhere to put more fish I guess!
