Have my doubts whether it's a real L236. No Pictures available.

:? I agree... pics of the actual fish would be a much bigger selling point.

You could get in touch with him and ask for pictures and see what he says - but I guess that wouldn't be proof that hes actually got the fish anyways. No picture doesn't nessesarily means no fish, and vice versa.

Ask him :)

He's giving an adress, that's a plus.

Good thinking. :) I emailed him and he says he won't provide pictures (whether it's cant or won't I don't know). I'm a little skeptical, he could think he has L236 and actually have something completely different. If I were going to put down that kind of money I'd have someone who really knows how to identify an L236 look at them first.

Probably best to avoid this guy now, he may well have a genuine reason for not having any pictures. However in light of recent events it would be wise to give this sale a miss.

Agreed. I'm not looking for them at any rate, but thought some others on here might be interested.

It's really too bad. These things are like $90 a piece, shipped 4 to a box, buying from the exporter. By the time the freight is tacked in with just 4 in a box to split it up amongst, they get expensive in a hurry. I was wondering how someone could sell them for $100 if they had more than that into them. That seller has been on aquabid a long time though.

Then again, it might be that the fish he bought as L236 don't look a lot like the pictures in the DATZ, also. Julie's fish she got in as L236 are more narrowly patterned for the size. I honestly think the pictures of L236 might just be of younger fish. Most of the Hypancistrus patterning is set at the same ratio of stripe size and what not as what they'll have as adults, they just get more pattern on them as they grow, the pattern itself doesn't. The German importers that got the same L236 (they sent her pictures) were very happy with them and sure that the fish actually WERE L236 while we were still discussing how to figure out one way or the other!

I'm now pretty confident she has the real deal. Confident enough to buy a trio of them anyway. We'll see if my pattern theory holds true in a year or so when I've got some fry I guess!

How does itwork on Aquabid if somebody use the "buy now" feature? wouldn't the auction close? Or what would happen?

I got a reply from the seller saying he had no way of getting a picture of them, but he had gotten the max bid (does that mean the buy now feature?) on them, and they were already picked up. He assured me they were true L236 and that he would get more.

Yes, When someone wins an auction with buy it now, the auction should automatically be ended. I don't see how he can say he got the "max bid" as someone bid $185 (reserve met) and aquabid is still showing the auction open with almost 5 days to go. Hmm...

Barbie,

Does Julie have any pictures of the L236. Do you know how many she got in? I may be interested.

Thanks

Yes, she's got pictures. Just email her about them. She hasn't listed them on her site yet, that I know of. I think she got 20. She intends to keep a group, I get a trio, and I'd assume she'll have 10 or more for sale. I haven't asked her, so don't quote me ;). I thought she posted a picture in the last thread where we were talking about them, but I'm making myself late for work (acclimating fish I got from Kevin this morning is really the cause, LOL!) I'll have to look for the pics later. It would be faster to just contact Julie, I'd think ;).

Julies, L236

Julies L236 stripes are closer together and not too much of the white showing. Is it because there younger maybe or are these NOT L236....Barbie you should know.

Thanks
