They were long gone by the time I made my enquiry. In fact the guy said that his phone had been ringing off the hook.

My zebra buying days are well and truly over now, even I wont pay the extortionate prices that they are going for at present. Anyways I have a big enough colony now and I am now concentrating my efforts on suitable digs for them.

Hi, i have noticed that same fish on there for nearly 3 weeks in a row i mailed him about it, he wanted £150 only last week because he read the wildwoods advert! ( which i think is a rip off ) but hey! someone is paying that for them. Would a single Male sell for such a high price! bearing in mind most people now days want groups? ( commenting on my little knowledge of the fish ) :)

Hi Shell231,

It's nice to see you getting stuck in  .

The current zebra embargo has seen prices rapidly rise and in my oppinion some people are looking to make a quick buck. Wild Woods haven't had zebras at £150 for a while now, their current lot are selling for £195 which I think is an absoloute rip off. That said people are still buying them, I guess if you really want them you will pay the prices currently being asked for. However WWs are taking the p***, even worse their next consignment will be around the £250 mark   .
As for the £150 male and it's worth, it depends on how desperate you are for one. If it's sexually mature It may well be worth the asking price to someone.

Would you pay that for 1 male! sexually mature or not? sorry to sound arrogant i may pay that for a female but i dont think i would pay that for a male, but thats just me. i read the post of that guy selling 12 for £800 now that is a deal that no one in there right mind could pass up! i wish i was on here sooner seeing that post i live so close to him as well

You're not being arrogant at all Shell231, it's a perfectly valid question. The answer is yes but then again you are talking to the wrong person as I am a complete zebra addict. Seriously how can I put it, say you have your breeding colony of five females and one male. Yet nothing is happening, you're doing everything to try to entice them to breed but yet it's still not happening. You then find out that you need a second male so that one can emerge as the dominant alpha and only this may stimulate your females to spawn. How much is that male zebra worth now knowing that you may not come accross one again?

Ricky's deal on the 12 zebras was a very good one indeed, I missed out but then it was all my fault as I was too slow off the mark.

I couldn't think of a better way to describe the potential worth of that male to someone out there. I'm glad that the example even though purely hypothetical illustrated my point.

Unfortunately not, Ricky actually specialises in Malawis but managed to get what appears to have been a one off shipment of zebras. Not too long after that shipment the import of zebras was banned.

Sadly the current ban on zebra imports means that Ricky and anyone else for that matter will not be able to get hold of wild caught zebras. The few fish that you see up for sale are either the last few in the trade from the very last imports or are F1s(first generation tank raised). Quite a few fish appear to be coming from europe at the moment, particularly Germany. As you have seen the prices for these fish are very high, Wild Woods current batch are from Germany. Some private sales of personal collections also come up from time to time.

I take it that you do not have any zebras yet. You may have missed the boat as they will be extremely hard to source for a reasonable price. However it's not impossible and they are offered for sale now and then but you may be looking at paying premium prices.

Why not send him a PM if you are serious, judging by the number of posts on your first day here I think you're pretty serious. My fingers are starting to ache trying to keep up with you

No probs, it's nice to see someone so keen  . As for all the other details such as price etc etc you really need to talk to Rob about that.
