Andrew,

Relax, take a deap breath and put your expectations at 0%
They are new to each other and probably those were their first spawns, give it time and i am sure it will work out fine.
IMO you expect to much to fast, don't try to fix things that aren't broken or you might end up with nothing at all.

Good luck and cheer up mate.
Greetings,
John

thanks for your adivce john....

i see what you are saying but i dont believe 2 spawns ending up totally dead can be put down to weak first spawns....? the 1st one perhaps but its twice now.... am i just stressing or is there something in the water which is killing the fry but doesnt effect the older fish? i cant help thinking my 0 kh is to blame?

Do you know how old the parents are? I was wondering if they are still too young. The parents of my first spawn are at least 3 to 4 years old ,
maybe that makes a diffrence. Im sure it will work its self out in the end

I've heard of those things happening before, some batches give problems and just won't make it, sometimes even after a few weeks after hatching.
And then the next batch WITHOUT altering waterparameters comes through perfectly allright
Maybe anybody here can share experiences like that :?:

andrew... I might give you a call over the weekend - we can compare notes...

we have 2 fry from our first spawn of 14 - none from the 2nd as the eggs didn't make it...

You are not alone
