They have done it again

Post by sharko »

Hi Everybody :)

My WC zebra group of 11 have done big time this time around.

Alltogether i have removed 25 dead zebra fry the last few weeks...

Last week i placed 8 fry that i found alive in a fry trap. Hoping that would better their chances....

Tonight i found 2 more, making it 11 fry alive..

I also looked into one of other caves and found at least 10 more but these were wigglers

I have found fry in 3 caves all together...

I am a proud dad, right now

PS......
Does any one know of any fry trap that is for sale that is a little bigger than the regular ones?

The biggest i can find in Norway have these measurements
20 x 10,5 x 9 cm. Marina multi breeder

why are you having dead ones? is the group killing them?

with the fry trap you could make your own out of a rubbermaid tupperware. get a good size one that will fit in your tank, drill some holes in it for circulation and add a float to the sides to keep it afloat maybe tie it to the side of the tank to keep if from floating all over the place.

here is what i built for my frontosa babies till they are big enough.

you can see it here in the top left corner

chanettt: Its hard to say what the trick was, but i had a dangerous drop in Ph some time ago-the Ph was 4,95.
Then i changed a lot of water and got it up to 6,40.
The water was very soft, and added water with a hardness about 4-6
That might have something to do with it:)

midnight pearl: Most of the group was bought in a period of 1 year, they were just about fully grown... I have had them since 2002-2003

eklikewhoa: I don't think the group is killing them.
I think the problem is that they just do not find enough food, and they slowly waste away...
I think the tank is too big for the fry.

n00dl3: No, this is not my first spawn, i think this is my spawn number 8 or something like that:)
But very little fry to speak of until now...
