Lrry93 might have wanted to show this video himself, but I've got one from a frien that shows the Zebra can be just as merciless.
I hope the author forgive me for linking it, it's made by Knut Kjesbu, and warning warning, it's about 45 MB large, so you might want to right click and choose "save as"
First you'll see a male attacking another male in the cave, then the male comes out to defend himself.

Had a nasty fight when we added our newest zeb - the Alpha male took exception and the fur flew.
he had the new one pinned upside down against the floor and a bit of bogwood - I got it on tape too... only to tape over it acidently
they stopped when i tapped a few times on the glass thankfully... and they have settled in ok now

the new one was claerly the under dog and learnt its place quickly...
I am however considering selling the alpha male to raise funds...
Anyone got a mature female? (how many time does that qiestion get asked )

has anyone held onto their fry long enough to see what the ratios are?
I've had 2 complete spawns of males from our starlight bristlenoses... just had to pull the 3rd lot of eggs so time will tell. I just need to work out why by changing things next time

Not fish I know, but reptiles can be relaibly incubated for sex at different temps. Leopard Geckos for instance, if you incubate the eggs @ around 82 degrees Fahrenheit will give you mostly females and upping the incubation temperature to 88 degrees Fahrenheit will give you mostly males. Incubating at 85 degrees Fahrenheit will give you a good balance of male to female hatchlings.
Has anyone tried this type of aproach?

More Males than females
Why more WC/ FO males than females.McEve wrote:it doesn't explain WC, but how about temperature for tank raised?
I assume there is more WC males due to 2 reasons.
#1 Males are easier to spot and collect in Wild due to males holding a cave most of the time. With tails wiggling about ouside of the cave... making them easy prey for collectors.
#2 After collection ..Collectors/importers would probably keep more of the females for themselves. After all they do have first pick,.
without females on the market means less competition down the road.
Well thats my logic on the matter.
Peace
