Safe tempratures?

Post by madmoroccan »

Hi all,

I have a temprature warning thermometer which is set to 27C-32C as the safe zone... of course tempratures don't fluctuate that much I usually see 29.5C-30.2C but this morning my tank reached 32.4C!

Is this safe? What is the maximum the tank temprature can get to before it becomes dangerous to the fish?

Kind regards

Bader.

I have an old article in TFH which has the water parameters that were taken when the zeb was first discovered in 1989. The one that sticks in my head was the water temp was about 32 and up to 35 at the shore!!!!!

If you want I can dig out the full parameters, pH, conductivity, hardness etc........

Hi

Post by dave »

A couple of my zebra tanks reach 32 to 34 every summer.

They do just fine.

When the weather is like this I just run a couple of extra airstones into the tank.

I move the powerhead nearer to the surface to keep it churning and moving more oxygen through the water when it's really hot like this.

My Eheim buildt in heater went amok last weeek. The temp was 37C (98.6F) before I noticed at feeding time! The fish is all fine, but - don't try this at home kids

I consider myself lucky, and Eheim got a rather harsh mail from me

@McEve;

37°C

32°C was caused by outside heat alone, no heater caused this.

This was in a room with the curtains closed, and the room is cooler than outside! :)
I begin to panic when variables like temprature get out of my control.

How are your fish getting on? I hope all is good.
