Tank weight?
Hi I have a 100litre tank... Does anybody know what the weight of a fully laden 100ltr tank would be roughly?
Any help would be appreciated. I need a quick answer as I am about to buy a solid mahogany sideboard to save space... But it has a weight restriction of 60kg MAX.
Thanks in advance.
Bader.

Initially my community is about to get moved in there... And my single zeb into the established 2ft tank by itself
36x12x15 is the exact size of the tank concerned... And @thebuddy, you are wrong... the tank is huge for just 3-5 fish... do you know what a 3ft tank looks like?
I have 2 filters running (one of these is recommended for this size)... Not to mention undergravel filtration.

I don't know the size of your fish you're planning to put in there Bader, but if it helps, I've also got a 3ft grow out tank with about 65 Alto. calvus black in there ranging in size from 4cm to 10cm, the majority of the fish are around 6cm with overkill filtration(about 3000 litres an hour). No fish look stressed at all but I'm not planning on keeping them in there long term as I have a buyer for all of them.....when is he coming to pick them up I wonder!

I knew it, the calculator on aquarist classifieds must be wrong... So how many litres can a 3ft tank hold?
@the buddy
The tanks dimentions are accurate... This is a common size in the uk. In the states you lot always have to have the "biggest" portions... LOL
Even when it comes to fish aquaria...
@frontyking
Thanks Nick. I dont have that many fish in my community tank... and I dont think Guppies x 7 (+12 fry), Neons x 7, amano shrimp x 5 and my L260 x 2 create as much waste as your 65Altos... LOL... Or get that big (my L260 are the exception).
@everybody
Anyone know where I can get some caves in the uk?
Who is running a 2ft zeb(L46, L98, L173... wot eva! Hypancistrus) setup? How many can I have in there knowing that I overkill on filtration (the 2ft doesnt have undergravel filtration)?
Thanks in advance.

If I rember right the traditional method of calculating stocking density is 12" of fish per square foot of surface area. So for your 36 x 12 tank (if it wasrun as a community tank) when it is fully mature, you would get 36" of fish. However, as zebs like lots of oxygen, I would lower this quite a bit, even with over kill filtration, as it is surface area that is limiting factor in getting O2 into the water No matter how much filtration and how many air stones you add, water has a saturation point for O2 that it will not exceed, this valueis also inversley related to temp (the higher the temp the less able the water is to hold onto the O2).
Hope this helps

PS why not make some caves from Slate and Aquarium Sealer or speak to Lyretail or Tom2600 if you DIY is as bad as mine

Thanks peeps...
@ al.c
Thanks for the info... I understand about the saturation point of oxygen...
I have complete confidence in you lot.
@ Fronty
Have you ever kept em in a 2ft tank? And do you think this would be better as a fry grow out tank?
Annoying I know, but what about my three footer? How many L46 can that hold?

Hi Bader,
My 5 x L046 are currently in a 2.5ft tank, but for me it's hard to say how many are comfortable or safe in that tank as mine are only young and the biggest is just under 4 cm with the other 4 being 3.5cm. When they get to a full grown size I will have a better idea but for now their tank is massive. In saying that, I have 5 x full grown adult L183's in a standard 2ft tank and they are productive as ever but of course, their breeding, habitat and behavior is somewhat different to the L046's.

Hi Bader,
Just seen this topic. I have 8 zebs in a 30x15x12 tank with no problems whatsoever...the occasional squabble but that's about it ( but I do have lots of hiding and shaded places to compensate) Out of the 8 about 5 are adult so I think you'll be ok for sometime yet.
Just in case though, I do have a spare same size tank underneath the exsisting one just in case it ever gets too crowded or fights start to break out.
