Is this a female too?

We all know how difficult it is to identify the sex of these fish, so please post a picture in here and we'll try to help you (or at least give an educated guess!).

Is this a female too?

Post by Apisto046 »

Hello,

I have posted this picture a few days ago (fishy photos)

Some people think this is also a female. What do you think?

This fish is 5,5 cm.

Just seen your msg. Strange no one has replied.

My gut feeling is I am really not sure but I would bet that they are both female as the odontodes look quite small.

Hello zebra046,

Do you mean the zebra in this topic ("Is this a female too") or do you mean the one in the topic "Finaly a female?", or are they both female?

Thanks

Apisto,
I am talking about the fish in this topic although she looks like she has more odontoides on her check and pectoral fin she has the head and body shape of a female, another thing for you to do is to watch the tank and see how the fish behaves take a note of it and post it here.

this are the behaviors to watch
1) does she hang out inside or outside the cave
2) if she is inside the cave what does she do
3) did she gain size around her belly region
4) a good healthy female that is full of eggs has an oblong shape kinda like an egg.

I could be wrong try to take new pictures in a month or so. and use your flash this time.
