Hi,
I have recently acquired seven young zebs with the intention of growing them on and hopefully breeding them.I currently have them in a 70l tank, plenty of bogwood, caves and water circulation, they seem to be doing really well,I will be moving them into a 180l tank over the next few months though. I would be very grateful to hear what other zeb keepers feed their fish and what their water change schedule is ? Thanks
Feeding and water changes
Re: Feeding and water changes
hi mate i feed mine hikari carnivor tablets ,tetra prima, everyday and frozen cooked prawns once in a while i change my water each wk now about 50% and i have them in a 190l tank i have had 2 spawns recently too, before i started keeping on top of my water changes i was doing them every 2wks about 60% i think the change to wkly mite of sparked the spawning which i now have 24 babies good luck

Hi
Thanks for the information,it seems that what you are doing is very successful.Currently I feed twice a day with either tetra prima or tetra min in the morning and then either frozen bloodworm, daphnia, lobster eggs or a pre-made plec food also frozen,in the evening.I change about 20% of the water every week with treated tap water.

Zebras, like most fish will eat almost anything. They prefer meaty foods but should have and will take veggie foods. I feed mine spirulina bits with garlic and paprika every Saturday. I mix in veggie sticks when I feed earthworm sticks. Here is a list of all the foods I feed or have fed mine:
Flake: Staple, Earthworm, Spirulina with Garlic
Freeze or Slow Dried: Daphnia, Blood Worms, Brine Shrimp, Earthworms, Tubifex Worms
Frozen: Cyclop-eeze, BBS, Brine Shrimp, Blood Worms, Mysis Shrimp, Daphnia, Brine Gutloaded w/ Spirulina, Tubifex Worms
Sticks, Wafers and Bits: Hikari Sinking Wafer, Kens Sticks-Earthworm,Veggie, Spirulina, Kens Meaty Wafer, Kens Spirulina Bits w/ garlic, AquaDine Wafers
