Just wondering why fish In Aus are so expensive, compared to Uk retail prices which are approx £30 each for the Average plec. How do the import laws have this effect?.
They probably get them from the same exporters in Brazil.
well LEGALLY were are not allowed to import anything other than the common pleco. To get anything else in they have to be illegally smuggled in, and there is a rather large fine if you are caught. Therefore most people jack up the prices as they had to take that risk, and others just do it because they can If someone wants a pleco bad enough that isnt easily found theyll have to pay for it.
Im just waiting for a while to get to many more as the L168's hopefully will be allowable imports after September, and who knows what other fish will slip in under that name!!
