:) :D   . I start buying zebras from here and there since 2 years a go but not anymore. I have all of them in One tank full of caves. They had spawn 6 times. Not sure who with who but I just check the caves weekly. Now I am giving them a rest until next Year. (No more fluctuations on water Parameters). To be honest I am not sure how many Females and Males I have. I learned the hard way when on the first spawn (22 eggs) I tried artificially to hatch them and I lost the war agains fungus ! . Now I changed the approach . I just separate the cave from the main tank with Male & eggs and leave the Male to take care of the eggs.
You don't need this much of zebras. I know I have many lazzy ones here. 8) .

Hamish,
I did have 16 fry but the adult male killed 9 of them just before I moved them to the breeder
Any idea what led to the male eating the fry?.

I believe that interference such as shining a torch into the cave , camera flash etc sometimes causes this behaviour. Some others tend to disagree.

Hi, Des

Im not sure what happened, they had all just hatched out that day, I was sitting in my chair next to the tank when I saw a load of bits coming from his cave when I looked in there were little bits of fry left on the floor, this was his fist spawn so he may have just been inexperienced, the seven others are all doing fine tho.

My zebras have blue eyes too. It's just when you take a flash photo they lose the blueness...

so that would make 2 males and 3 females all adults.

11 zebras

i have 11 zebra's

1 large female
2 suspected females
2 males
rest to small to tell

all in same tank with fewer caves than fish to ensure competion from the best fish for the caves so only the strongest spawn
success is a journey full of unbelievable experiance NOT a destination with an unbelievable experiance.
