Hi ,can anybody tell me when a male traps a female should the fish be lying opposite. e.g Male with his tale sticking slightly out of the opening of his cave ,with the females tail at the back of the cave and head facing towards the opening. Hope this makes sense.
Thanks Al
Yes. In all the previous spawns I have spied on I had never seen this configuration before. But it resulted in eggs. When I posted about it it was explained that the actual spawning occurs with the fish facing in opposite directions
What makes the common person uncommon is common sense.
From my previous experience, this particular configuration is due to small size of the female. If the female is small enough, she can turn around with head pointing outside when laying eggs inside the cave. All my 3 small females have been doing that. I have a bigger female and she's never done that when laid eggs. It is my personal experience and thought. I could be wrong.
Hi, just an update. The female remained in the cave for approx 6 nights and whilst in there , swapped into various positions. In the end she was tucked up right in the back of the cave and could not be seen.
But the good news is , the male is certainly on eggs.
Fingers crossed Al
