Everything you ever wanted to say about "Zebra luvin", but didn't because you thought everyone would take the mickey! Plus general topics for discussion including everything from what you feed them to your personal experiences.
Hi, I have just seen this on another website. It is apparently taken from the latest BSSW(?) report.
In an article by Hans Georg Every, he tells of his 14/15 yrs old Hypancistrus zebra... which were brought back in 1991 at the estimated age of 1 yr old and are still alive today. BUT more importantly they are still spawning!!
I thought that the average life expectancy of a zebra was around the 10 year mark, it's good to know that they can live longer. I'm quite surprised that they are still capable of breeding at that age, it could suggest that their life expectancy might be even longer.
I love hearing that! Just to keep their water nice for them and maybe they'll make it. I lost 4 for no reason. I can only blame water quality in 3, but I thought the water was ok. Anyway, I liked Kilifish until I learned most don't live past a year and the non-annuals? live about 3. I love fish that can stay with you for many years. Yay!
Seems the average natural life span when you look at all aquarium fish is about 5 years...in good water conditions.
