Thanks Raul; it is 6cm long, should be a young male but it is very thin at the moment (a bit worried). I only have one and just purchased it yesterday... i am feeding it with bbs and hope it will be fatter soon...Raul-7 wrote:Stunning!

No offence meant, but I think that it is L46.
There is considerable variation in the pattern, thick stripe, thin stripe.
I have a number of wild caught and one is very similar, when it bred with a normal patterned L46 it produced normal fry.
Datz also no longer list it in their book.
Take L98, supposedly only ever 3 specimens ever collected.
My understanding is that while occurring in the Xingu, the populations are isolated, and there is variation in pattern.
It is a nice fish though.

Dave: You are right and i think so. i (and many many other people) believe that L198, L173 and L46 all belong to the same scientific species. My plan is to keep and breed this specimen with the normal L46

You bring up a good question. The tail looks much more different than regular L46's, the body looks more armored than your regular L46 and the eyes are different as well.chanettt wrote:very unique and beautiful. is L46 suppose to have blue and black eyes? this one kind of have brown and black eyes.
