A Year has past since last Sexing! they are now SEXABLE!

We all know how difficult it is to identify the sex of these fish, so please post a picture in here and we'll try to help you (or at least give an educated guess!).

A Year has past since last Sexing! they are now SEXABLE!

Post by gianniz »

I have take this photo today. Its been about a year since I have obtained these babies when they were about 4-5cm (geeze they are slow growers!)

They are about 7cm (smallest) and the biggest being 7.5cm

Now check this out, I have vented these beauties.

this one i am 100% sure its a male. Notice the triangle shape and the pointed edges.

this one i am 100% sure its a female. Notice the round oval shape

Also from my observation 1-3 zebras have taken some sort of cave/log as a shelter and can be found running back to this place when its scared.

while the 4th zebra changes its location, and these locations are just shelters such as underneath a driftwood (it seems).

One little problem. I have other tank mates including albino bristlenose, peppermint (starlight), L104 and yoyo loaches.

Seems like the zebras get muscled out of their caves by some of the bigger cats/loaches....

anyway so i recogn they are about 2years old or so should i start removing other tankmates and have a species only breeding?

Are there anyone out there having success with tank mates like mine?

Many thanks in advance for your forthcoming comments :)

PS I am 90% sure i have no1,2,3 are males and no4 is a female. why 90% well its because the HEART SHAPED no3 is somewhat of a mystery ???

now i know i have both sex,

you guys recogn its time for a separate species tank for serious breeding? or does it require more growth before spawning?

I have purchased them when they were around 4-5cm and its been over a year since I purchased so is it safe to assume they are over 2 years old?
