As you may know i have my tank for sale anyways i got an email from someone claiming to want it from the usa and even though im selling it for a bargain £120 i replied oh yeah sure but i want £200 for it this was their reply

Thanks for the mail,and i'm pleased to inform you that the price is
okay with me,and i am ready to purchase from you immediately,i will offer
you 200pounds .I have a reputable shipper that will take care of shipping from
your end,and i have inform my shipper and he said that the term is okey by
him .I want to let you know that i have an associate in Europe that is
oweing me a sum 4,000pounds .I will instruct him to issue you a cheque on my
behalf and as soon as the cheque arrives,you hold out your amount and send
the difference to my shipper for the pick up in your place altogether
with other goods i got with him.I hope i can trust you with my balance.Do
get back to me with the following

I know this scam, it was all over watchdog that is so obvious why would anyone fool for it!

There is not much the police can do, this person has simply offered you more money that you have asked, for an item you are selling. Obviously if you sent the item and didn't receive the money it would be a criminal matter but I would hazard you would not be able to trace this person (or people). The aquarist-classifieds website has a link warning about these types of emails.

Tell him that you are okay with the transaction as long as you can wait for the bank to clear the check. It should take at least 10 business days and if he can wait that long for his fish... you are cool. He will not accept these terms. but you will have strung him along and wasted more of his time.
