I have a couple of females that like to position themselves tail first in a cave, I've also noticed the same behaviour in juvenile males. Perhaps they find it easier to defend the cave facing out.

Just a theory, but perhaps immature fish and females do this. Males sit "in-situ" with their heads in. I've noticed this behaviour on my pair of Squaliforma.
