I was feeding a range, lobster eggs, tetra prima crushed, peas, courgette and prawns (cooked and raw). When the loses started i droped the tetra prima, lobster, eggs and recently dropped the prawns. Do you think any of these could be causing the problems?

I have started losing Fry almost daily

They seem to have bloated tummies. Has anyone else had this problem.

Water changes weekly, and all tests are ok.

Any ideas? Its only the very small fry, the older ones seem fine.

However my big concern right now is that my alpha male looks Knackered, this is his 3rd in row, and he looks a bit pinkish and also this morning has a big chunk out of his tale!

Just wanted to report 4th and 5th Spawns.

The same two males as last time, alpha and the second male...

This makes it Alphas 3rd Spawn and the other males 2nd Spawn. 5 babies got kicked out and they are in a trap all others are in the caves with the dads.

No idea how many babies I have ...

Congrats! I know what you are saying, I have no idea how many little ones are chasing around my tank after lights out, but as you said to me they are great hiders so I try not to worry much

Nice to see you on the site. I have heard that zebs are banned from import in OZ/NZ,is that correct?

Can anyone help advise me on this one. If I introduce new Zebs (male and/or female) into a tank where there is good spawning happening, could this stop/pause it, whilst the hierarchy is re-sorted out with the new male etc?

Any ideas?

Thanks for the advice guys - I have since let the ones out of my fry trap into the tank and i see one pop up now and again so hopefully its all good!

So I have had a few spawns, I have 9 in a breeding trap from eggs kicked out - they are doing great.

But in the 240L main tank, my 1st spawn and some of the second - I cant see any of them. I sometimes see the odd one, but not sure if he is the only one or if its the same one.

Cant find any bodies ...

Lucky enough to report that the other male/female did indeed pair off and lay some eggs. Unfortunatley they were kicked out on Thursday (10 of them) but I managed to save them and put them in the breeding trap with the other 2 babies from the 2nd spawn last week. 8 of them hatched today ...

Congrats on your spawn! I put the one live baby into the fry saver and he seems to be doing ok!

Waiting now to see how the other babies are getting on and how many there are. Looks like the other cave does have some eggs afterall which is great news!

The alpha has been back at it again, second spawn a week or so ago. He kicked out two eggs today so I know for sure, one looks dead one is alive.

Any recommendations on what to do with the little wrigger attached to the egg? He is very small....

Good thanks mate, spotted 3 little zebs under a piece of wood right next to Dad's cave - im guessing its the two I let out plus another but could be wrong. Dad still in the cave and wont come out - so maybe he still has more in there? Not sure....hmmmmmmmm
