I've never heard of this. I cut my small Anubias nana 'petite' all the time in my old tank with my zebras and had no ill effects.
Thanks for replying!
I just got a big bunch of Anubias nana 'petite' which I can probably cut into a few separate rhizomes. I've got some other anubias gold/yellow ...

Cutting Anubias Nana rhizome - toxic for zebs?
Hi,
I've heard and read that cutting the anubias nana rhizome, or actually pretty much any part of it, releases a toxic substance. This substance may be toxic to shrimp and other inverts. Some people say this is a myth.
Even though I do have red cherry shrimp with my zebras, my main concern is if ...

Re: Are these filters any good ??????
In my case, I'm currently using an Eheim 2215 canister filter with a hydrosponge prefilter and a marineland maxi-jet 400 powerhead with a hydrosponge prefilter which provides aeration, mechanical filtration and some, although minimal, biological filtration.
The 2215 is definitely overfiltering my ...

Re: New group all dead overnite!
Wow, I'm so sorry about your loss. :(
Just curious, did they show signs of stress while they were being drip-acclimated?
I'm thinking that if after an hour, they still showed signs of stress, I would have extended the drip-acclimation.
I'm not exactly sure, maybe others will chime in, but that's ...

Re: Are these filters any good ??????
Never tried it myself, but I guess for that price, it's worth a try. Hmm, even comes with UV...nice. The seller has solid positive feedback.
I would have a back-up filter though, even just an air-driven hydrosponge or your old one, just in case.
Personally, I paid so much for my zebs, I would ...

Thanks everyone!

I hope so too. :loldude:
It's been more than a week with no casualties and they seem to be loving it. It's all temporary until I get some caves in there. I'll use the caves to stabilize the whole thing.
But I can't take credit for the setup. It was suggested by my friend, Hitch. I did all the ...
