Hi GlockFu, You could try using Jmc catfish pellets and Jmc high protein food ( with the yellow lid).Be careful not to overdo them as they can easily pollute the water if overfed. You could also use ZM foods (A VERY GOOD QUALITY HIGH PROTEIN FOOD)available mailorder on the internet in various grades...

Hi Shell231, They are basically a Hypancistrus plec much larger than Zebras with the body colour being dark brown/black with vertical cream/white stripes which sometimes fade/dissappear as they get older. They are L270. You can do a search for L270 on www.Google.co.uk/ Images for pictures . Regards,...

Hi GlockFu,

Wellcome to the forum.
Firstly ,congrats on finding the babies.
A few questions, before being able to give you some answers.
How big is the tank?
What other fish have you got in there?
What substrate have you got?
What are you feeding the adults and how often?

Regards,
Des.

Hi McEve, A L270 I believe is a chocolate zebra. Once you have seen one, you will not mistake it for a L333. Remember both types are very variable in their colour and patterning. In fact ,I have a couple of l270 that have lost their light coloured stripes as they matured, while another 2 from anothe...

L260 Queen Arabesque

Hi, A few days ago, went to feed my lot of mixed plecs in a 4ft bare bottomed tank , with caves and bogwood, and noticed some large "plec" looking eggs just hatched, at the front of the tank. I caught these 3 up then had to find out which plecs had been up to no good !!!!. The only way was ...

Hi Sid, Thanks for all the advice. Things seem to be going well at the moment with about 30/40 fry feeding of the parents, their tummies bulging , unlike the 3 days previous. They also started taking microworm this evening ,4th day after free swimming I did reduce the water height by another couple ...

Ken , Thanks for your comments. I was never into these "new type" varietes, but they have grown on me. They were from Chen, from FishKingDiscus in Taiwan who has won quite a few Discus Championships recently. I tried going to the website you recommended but comes up with "Unable to op...

Hi Sid, Thanks for your answer,Yes I believe they are new parents, Conductivity is just below 100micro siemens,Ph is around 6, but find that 25% go white almost immediately ( within 24 hrs),50 % stay opaque and only 25 % hatch. I got a lot of info from the discus Holland site.I tried reducing the le...

Fishfinder, Well done.It is the first move towards SEXcess or was that Sucesss. Normally the female will hang around the males cave, until she decides to go in when he is out ( or he chases her in) to the back of the cave. Normally there isnt enough room for her to be above the male. (The inner dims...

Hi Shell,

Have only just seen your message.
I have only used the frozen ones, especially the larger newzealand green lipped mussels which are a lot tastier, but I dont see why you cannot use a fresh one. Freeze the remainder for later use.

Des.

Tom,

In an earlier post Shell said that she had a kh of 6d and gh of 10d , which I believe is half way between soft and hard water. Later She states figures of gh 160 ppm and kh 90ppm ????????????.

You state that this is hard water. Are you sure? I dont think so.

Des.
