Some people I have talked to in the past with harder water see these "shells" . My theory was that it might be calcification. I have never seen "egg shells" on any fish that I have spawned, but my water is very soft Most fish absorb the egg sack and it becomes their stomach area....

I heard one notation that some species of Apistogramma eat their fry if it gets too dark in their tank at night and the suggestion was to leave a small light on them, replicating the moon light. I have been running experiments on Rams and Angel fish to see if this makes a difference. I had much bett...

I often use a turkey baster or a small eye dropper to pick up fry in their wiggler stage. I also use it to cull fungus eggs. My Zebras have not spawned yet, but this is a trick I have been using for a decade with Angel and Ram eggs. Due to the size of Zebra eggs, I can imagine a wider opening of a t...

I am going to discontinue making caves at the very least for the next several months. I have too many personal issues that require my focus to resolve. These caves have taken up much of my normal time for keeping my life in order. I do have some caves available that were already completed last week....

Those last dozen caves were shipped and 25 more caves that have nobody attached to them are about halfway done. I figured I would take this lull in the orders to catch up a little before I have to work more Overtime at my real job

I have got a lot of emails in the past few days and I am a bit confused about which ones I have received and those which I have answered. So please forgive me, if I forgot to respond to yours. I am also rather behind on cave making, so if you want your caves right now, I would suggest you try anothe...

snr62 - I am not sure $.01 is a good deal once you pay for shipping as they weigh a lot. You cut them using diamond wet saw and grind them using diamond grit embedded bits. The more you can cut wet, the less dust and longer your tools will last. The biggest problem I have is flattening the tiles. If...

Not too bad. :D No need to worry about "my design" I only copied the dimensions from this site. My improvements have been the distressed edges, front porch and a removable top. I am actually puzzled why other people have not copy my design. The main problem I had with ceramic tile is that ...

I do not think that "MarineLand" sells it's electrical products in the UK. At least I have not seen them on UK websites. Some companies like Hagen, Ehiem, and Aquarium Pharmaceuticals are available on both sides of the pond. In the USA we do not get Waterlife, Juwel, or Hydor products

Heater Blow out! Zebras OK

My heater was situated horizontally and a little more than halfway down the back of the tank, so this would not happen...... I was doing a 50% water change with cooler water and quit paying attention when it was draining( Us Guys should not multitask!) Next thing I hear is Bam! and a swooshing noise...
