jiggling male?

Post by Jo »

Hi i've noticed this a couple of times when a male is sitting in a cave he will jiggle/shake his tale up & down - is this a call for a female? or a warning to other males? any ideas?

Hi Jo

From what I have seen this is a territorial sign, unless there is a female at the mouth of a cave. Either way it seems to be away of showing their"masculinity".

The major difference when there is a female involved is he tends to curl the tail round as well.

It is a good sign however as it means you have a nice dominant male.

Are there any younger or smaller fish hanging round his cave?
