Hello from Minnesota!

Hey all...I'm taking the dive into pleco breeding (hopefully!). I kept Zebra plecos in the early 90's with great success (they lived, grew, thrived from what I could tell). They didn't breed, but I had not heard of any breedings, so I wasn't expecting them to. I sold them to another hobbyist and I'm not sure how they progressed after that.

I keep stingrays, some larger plecos (L025, L128), and some other smaller pleco species now. They are in a variety of large tanks.

I'm in the process of setting up a 90 gallon zebra breeding tank and having fun with it so far. I've ordered some pottery caves and stone ground caves. I'll post pics as soon as it is ready.

I'm looking for some high quality zebras to get started. Let me know if you have leads, suggestions, etc.

Thanks for a great site...I have learned a lot already!

J.

Welcome to the wonderful world of zebras.

You don't necessarily need that large of a tank. Remember zebras are not big fish and they love to move about under cover. Plus, if you succeed in spawning them, trying to get fry out will be a real chore. That said there is nothing wrong with having more water volume than less.
