Tank share - L046 and L201?

Post by Jenny »

Would you recommend 2 x L201 sharing a 70 litre tank with 2 x L046?

I am planning to get a second L201 with a view to breeding them - I don't want to cause problems to the zebras.

Do you have mixed species breeding pairs?

Hi Seahorse,

Personally I wouldn't advise keeping any other Ls with zebras, they are just too valuable to take chances with. Des ran into trouble with some Inspectors he had in with his zebras, see the attached link.

Thanks, Adam, I should have remembered that link (my brain cells are dying fast)

Will have a re-think - perhaps a fourth tank is the best option

Hi Seahorse,

Adam is right, as stated in the link, I did lose a male zebra.
However ,this happened in a breeding tank with breeding caves, which led to the fight due to both males of different species wanting the same cave.
I have other "plec community" tanks with lots of different mixed L nos , with bogwood as cover and dont notice any real problems.

Regards,
Des.
