Hello from Sussex

Hi my name is John I have 8 zebs which I have collected from different sorces some old wild plecs some F1. I have had them for 9 months they are in 220lt tank 4ft long in Ro water (as the water in sussex has a ph of 8.2) the ph about 7 sand substrate 9 clay caves/ slate / wood 2 filters ( 1 external 1500lt p/h the other an overhead spray bar 900lt p/h) I also have a wave maker 5000lt p/h but not turned on all the time.
I like most are trying to breed them and are looking for and tips or help if I am doing anything wrong or is it just time and trial no error I hope.

Welcome, must've been quite hard to collect some wild caught ones.

I got the wild ones from a breeder who was moving and had to downsize lucky?

facts
male and females?
sizes?
do u have lights ? how long are the on ?
water flow how much ?
water params?
feeding how much and what ?
water changes how oftern?
caves and hiding places how many?
any taking up caves?
temps?
lots of things count more info the better
i started 8-9 months ago and mine have just started

I think patience is an important ingredient, it took my fish 2 years to spawn for the first time, in that period i also tried all tricks there were and after finally giving up on them then they spawned.
Ofcourse having a fish of both sexes is somewhat important

Hi Jonnieboy.
Welcome to the forum. No doubt if you stick with it they will breed. Unfortunately here is no definate recipe or correct way to get them going. Look through the site, ask as many questions as you like and good luck.

sizes? 1 big male 8cm the smallest female 6cm

plus a 5000 wavemaker I put on after a water change

feeding how much and what ? a bit of tetra prima a.m once a day at night frozen bloodworm or brine srimp or mussles plus tetra prima

caves and hiding places how many? 9 clay caves slate stacked plus bogwood
any taking up caves? normally about 3 in caves
temps? about 32
lots of things count more info the better sand substrate 6 danios 8 cherry srimp 2 dojo loach and some snails

ok john things started happening for me when i went on hols
fed night b4 a good dose of blood worm
in the morning b4 i left
done a big 50 % water change
put all pumps on for max flow
and lights of for three days
no disturb
no food
on third day brother dropped in to put pinch of tetra primer
in no lights just checked temps and pumps were running
6th day i returned and had spawn in 1 of the caves
prob just by chance but hey worth a go
just to mention my temps 28-29 c
think 32 c might be little high
give ago you never no
