one of my new adult male zebbies has an adult female trapped in his cave, they have been in there all day, and he has started fanning her very quickly with his pelvic fins, is this a good sign

That's a good sign! You might have babies before you know it, crossing my fingers that you will! And remember - I'm their aunty

That certainly is a good sign :D . If I remember correctly you got hold of the sexually mature fish, 7 or so. It's true what McEve says she is the aunty to all our baby zebras, not too sure what that entails but there you go  .

Everybody needs an auntie! It just makes you feel...... safe :D

I guess this one can be classified together with giving your fish names

McEve do you realise that as an Aunty you may be called to baby sit :D .

Oh no not Rob's George naming thing again  .

Absolutely! That's one of the responsibilities that comes with being an auntie, so anybody wanting to risk not getting them back can call on me for babysitting anytime

Congrats Hamish :D.

That must be some sort of spawn record as you only got the 7 zebras on 21/03/05 or thereabouts. It took them all of 2 weeks to spawn    .

Well done mate :D .

cheers Adam,
but I didn’t really do anything, just fed them that’s all, well and 25% water change every 4 days, who knows they may all turn out to be infertile, but at least its a start, I feel like i`ve kind of jumped the que a little, with all you guys trying so hard to spawn you zebbies, oh well £600 well spent I suppose. this might keep the wife off my case for a while, i`ll keep you posted.

I just used plain old tap water and aqua safe,

there are 16 eggs and all have little wriggler`s in, I've left them with the male in his cave in my main tank for now but will move them and the male tomorrow to a smaller tank of their own, things are looking good at the mo, will try to get a pick of them soon
