Spawn number 2

Post by jerry58 »

Hi
My alpha male has spawned again with the other female he is at the moment looking after (and doing a very good job of it)aprox 9 fry . It is all going well I have taken a pic to check the progress of the fry and noticed that on his left pectorial fin does not look normal it looks like the odontode is enlarged might be due to breeding injury. Will this get better on its own or do I need to medicate (taking into acount that there is young fry in same tank and don't want to harm them)Please can someone advise me.

Thanks Jerry

Here is a pic and update pic of lone fry from first spawn doing well also 8)

Congrats on the spawn. I would just keep an eye on the fin and do nothing unless it seems to be getting worse. That way if any treatment becomes necessary the fry may be ready to leave the cave and you can pull the dad to treat in an H tank.
What makes the common person uncommon is common sense.

Hi
Thanks for your replies and keeping an eye on the fin not got any worse.
Had a fry head count today and not 9 fry but 13 fry  (unlucky for some!).
All doing fine.

Big Thanks Jerry
