Hi there,
I've been a lurker here for a while, so I thought I'd just say hi.
I think I'm ready for some Zebs too, so I'll read up on all your advice,
best wishes for 2009

Hello again,
I first popped in in 2008 to say hello.
This time I'm back and I have some Zebs of my own.
I waited until I could successfully breed some L134s before rewarding myself with some Zebs so now I'm ready to give these beautiful little fish a shot.
I've purchased some young Zebs which are 4.5cm long. I'm guessing they are 6-12 months of age. Would that be right?
I'll have to buy some adults over the coming months if I want to breed them (I can't wait for 2-3 years for these juvies to grow), but in the mean time I need to sell some L134s.
all the best.
Matt

I went the reverse route. I go the zebras and bred them before moving on to 134s which were more of a challenge. Have dad on eggs now in 2nd spawn from my colony.
You can never have too many zebras so go for some adults for sure. Oh- welcome back to the site too

Hey TTA,
what would you say is the main difference? From what I have read, it seems like L134 are a bit more sensitive to the hardness of the water, and the L046 are a bit more sensitive to diet?
What do you think?

I think that 134s need more space per fish than zebras. I am also begining to agree with those who say 134s often work better in pairs or trios than in groups. This may be due to space issue
I feed both fish essentially the same diet as well as having them in pretty similar water params. Zebras seem to like/accept warmer water as well by several degrees F.
