I am in the midst of getting 4 zebras I would like to place them in a 20 gallon long with a fx5. Is that to much I keep reading they need there water to be very aerated and fitered at least 20 times. so i thought that would be great for them. Also i am going to add a power head right now the tank has black sand 5 caves and 2 pieces of bog wood in the middle around 15in is the center.

Honestly an FX5 on a tank that size would make it a jacuzzi. You'd never be able to get food to settle on the bottom of the tank with it. I've got one on a 75 gallon and it's probably twice as much filter as is needed even for it and I always use extra flow. Amazingly, my discus find a quiet corner to spawn in there anyway. I was sure they wouldn't, hehe. I would recommend something smaller like a Hydro sponge on a maxijet powerhead with a small aquaclear hang on filter or something for secondary filtration. You have to stay within reason on the flow rates or you just exhaust them fighting the current all the time.

I have no idea what a power head 30 is or how much water it moves. Sorry. I'd need more information to have a clue. Are you prefiltering the powerhead? If not, I recommend it. Hydro sponges are great for that purpose.
