Yes, females will hide in caves, although not as frequently and usually when they think they're ready to spawn.

This is all good news

I bought an adult wild caught male to add to my existing adult male and younger ones

but when I received the new one my existing adult male is looking alot more like a female  rather than a male

Yes, mine do too. Mine are a bit different though, in that, the females that use caves, 2 of them, use terra cotta "old style" pots, one never enters any cave and the male takes the onlt slate "breeding" cave.

Females will shelter in caves but they don't claim them the way males do.
What makes the common person uncommon is common sense.

My females do too, but you see these coming out more to feed than you do my males.

They seem to hang out of the caves more than males & also change caves quite frequently.

Anyone, never say never you have no females, one day you may be amazed.

I was, hopefully you will too. :)

Same here. Females do not fight and claim caves while male does.
