My understanding is 15-20 years. But don't hold me to that, it could be longer. Hopefully somebody more cwertain will chime in.

Somebody in germany has a wildcaught male allready for 14 years, this fish was allready mature when imported.
This male is still breeding.
Lifespan is thought of to be 30-40 years in good conditions

I have a male that I got as a mature fish in December 1995. He is still going strong now. He must be at least 15 years old!
