Territoriality setting in?

Post by Ameekplec »

I've had my zebra juvies (10 months old) for a few weeks now, and up till today they all loved to live together under a piece of driftwood, instead of the slate I had set up for them.

However, today I noticed that they were all in different places, one to each place. When does territoriality set in with zebs? I thought they'd be a bit more friendly for a while longer, but it appears otherwise.

There's obviously no hard and fast rule with zebras. I have adults that all hang out together under rocks, and I have some that are loners, for one reason or another. Just making sure they all have enough hiding places to feel comfortable with can be very important for their safety. Those boys get flat nasty as they get mature enough to feel frisky!
