When feeding my fish tonight, at the side of the cave where a male bristlenose catfish has eggs, i noticed a small tail wiggiling away.
I checked to see what it was and found a fry that has escaped from the males cave, still with egg sack
This is the third batch from them and this is the first time any have escaped.
I sucked it up with a turkry baster and put it in a breeding trap with an airstone, hopefully it will survive

Aw, that is a really cute pic! I regularly shake out baby bristlenoses from the males cave and let them absorb their yolk sacs and grow out in another aquarium (usually a 10 gallon) Works great, as most of my bushynose pairs share tank space with other fish who think babies are quite tasty.
Mine are always bright bright orange too, do you feed a lot of spirulina? I think that may contribute to the bright pumpkin color perhaps?
Best, Barb

Currently run 25+ tanks and 6 above ground ponds. Breed many species of fish, including catfish, plecos, angels, Uaru's, German Blue Rams, livebearers, even snails.

Am going to cut the turkey baister a bit shorter, so that the funnel has a wider opening.
The fry had a blood spot right at where the yolk sack joined the body and i thinking it may be that, that damaged the little guy when i sucked him up to put in the trap.
