Hello from Pennsylvania!

Just thought I'd properly introduce myself, after having jumped on another thread the other day.

I'm Julie Christie, currently living in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA. We have an operation called FryBabies. We've got about 280 tanks setup, and our main interests are African cichlids from the lakes, and catfish! We also love stingrays, and brought them in for quite a while, but they require a lot of care, and I just didn't have the time to do it properly.

Most of our imports these days are catfish, corys and plecos. The rest is a breeding operation.

Nice board here, I've been lurking on and off for awhile, learning alot!!

Hi Julie and welcome to the forum, nice to have you onboard :D .

That's quite some operation you have going there, 280 tanks  . I guess you must be a full time fishkeeper/breeder/supplier. I have problems just keeping up with my 4 tanks, got 6 in total but 2 are empty at present.

Regards.

She's NOT a full time fish keeper. She works too! The woman is amazing! All that and she manages to find time to send me lists to drool on ;)

We're about an hour south of Allentown. We go up that way all the time in the summer, to go to Dorney Park, and to the drive-in movie theaters up that way.

Come visit!!

Hi Julie,

I dont know how you cope with all those tanks. I find it difficult managing all my manual water changes and I've only got 8 !!!!

Did you manage to find out whether the L236 you got were genuine? or a form of L333?

Regards,
Des.

As everyone seems to keep say how do you cope with so many tanks are they all linked as one filteration system? or what would love to see more on it , Welcome!!

Who says I cope? ;)

at least not sanely!!

No central system, we have two distinct kinds of fish... SA and African, so the water requirements are different. Also, we were getting in too many fish that needed quarantine, so again, didn't want to go wtih a central system.

Most of the WC's are done pretty easily... siphon out.. fill via pump. It's more the rest of the tank maintenance that doesn't always get done as often as they should. I do have a helper on occassion, and my partner Dennis does his own cory tanks, but that leave me with @250 to do... 50tanks/day... not too bad except when the tanks are 125/220 and need large water changes!!!!

As for he L236, I'm still not convinced that they ARE'T what they are supposed to be. My agent is very reputable, and sells to the Germans frequently. In fact he had sent some of the same fish previously to them, and they were very pleased with them, and sent back pictures of them after receipt. I'm trying to get more info (I saw the pics.. identical to the fish I got) but dealing with a busy end of season rush, waters are high in the Amazon right now...

Hi Julie

It's an honour to have you on board. It's nice to put a face , (well sort of), to frybabies.

Hope you have time to read through the forum and contribute between water changes!

I'll look forard to hearing from you, its a really friendly group here, (if not a little obsessed)   Which of course is a good thing!
