Welcome from a fellow Canuck. L46 are very rare up here in the frozen north. Maybe one of these days they rest of the world will figure out that we have actually discovered heating and that we have moved out of our igloos into real houses  and allow us to import some of their wonderful animals :P

Welcome to the board!

It isn't actually the rest of the world restricting you from getting fish ;). The difficulty is in getting fish from the US over the border. It's rumored to be possible, but the only person that I actually know that's tried it had fish delayed almost 3 days. They arrived very dead. It's definitely not worth the risk for zebras ;).

With that said, there's a member in Creston, BC that occasionally makes it to Calgary. She's trying to get her zebras spawning, so hopefully it won't be too long before you'll have access to some.

The comment I made was more in jest than anything. I currently have 1 zeb and am awaiting an order of 4 more... just is taking time.

Canada has no current import restrictions on aquarium trade fish for personal use. Although that will be changing later on this year supposedly. The difficulty with getting them up here is that people will not ship them till the warmer weather is here (understandable) and even then not all understand their own export laws with regards to live animals.

As for people keeping these fish... there are a few of us up here... just with most of us our stock is not breeding right now.
