I have wanted some zebs ever since I saw my first one at the LFS in 2002. I should have bought it then at $60. But I guess it was a wise choice to leave him there as I was there checking out prices and availability on other fish for my first aquarium. Being in college and moving 2 times a year, I did not want a $60 fish to die.
I have checked into these fish a few times over the years but it never worked to get any. Now, 5 some years later, I am married and finally “settled down”. So it is time to look into zebs again!!!
I am the fish keeper in the family. My husband is the fish watcher and the money maker of the family. In order to add to my fish keeping, we agreed on finding something I can breed (maybe break even on all the fish keeping costs). He loves angels, and I think some are great, but my heart does not flutter when I think about them like when I think of zebs. (don’t tell my husband about the heart flutters!) What better fish to breed than ones that are endangered?
I believe I can convince him that these spendy fish will be worth it. We will be setting up a fish area in the basement, so I can customize all I want. (plywood tanks, auto top off, w/d sump, maybe even an auto or semi automatic water change system!) I have been gathering information slowly about how to do all these things, and now I want to tailor it to the zebs needs.
So thanks to all of you whose posts I have read and all that will be answering my (very wordy) questions in the future!
