I have an opportunity to purchase several L046 from the Netherlands. How do I arrange shipment? Do I need any import papers? Do I need to involve a customs house broker (something like that)? I heard that I should make sure if I have them flown in that I go through Miami or NY.
Details details!!! Can someone PM me with some answers.
Thanks!!

I'm going to move this to the general forum where people can actually reply to the topic
.
IMO, shipping fish from overseas would be far too risky with our restrictions and hoops to jump through for imports. You would also want to check good and hard into the background of the person you are purchasing the fish from for any negative feedback before committing to send the money, if not actually setting it up in an escrow account to protect yourself. I've seen way too many of these situations end badly to ever risk it myself, no matter how desperate I was.

I did find a transhipper that can help me out. I had no clue what the process involved. The person I am getting the fish from has other fish as well that I may want to get and possibly establish a long term partnership.

Well uuh if you run pretty quick in circles it's rather nearby
On the serious side i am very interested who this exporter would be, as our country is pretty small and i know of most people that are involved in zebs. (to give an example holland is as big as 1/4 of kansas)

Curious why overseas? There are allot of domestic breeders in the USA.

So far, I have purchased 7 adults that had one fry (and a clutch of eggs two days before I made the trip). In the end, 3 survived.
I am making arrangements with a very well known and respected breeder to acquire additional F1 fish. However, with my offspring, plus the new ones I am getting this week (within the USA), that still only leaves me with 7 breedable adults.
If I could find someone stateside who would sell me adults, proven breeders preferably, then I would stay stateside. I have an opportunity to pursue getting some pre-ban wild caught fish that are now adults at a not unreasonable price.

Which direction, though, that is the question! I get lost easily....
John -- I will PM you with the persons name.
Talk to you all later! Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
