You and me and most of the members on the board would love to find that fish. It's rumored he was a one off catch and that the coloration is more of a "sport" than a species, sorry.

Nadine when you go collect them and post pictures of your new fish, I'll be the first to congratulate you ;). Good luck with that!

On a side note, could you please post your location in your profile? Even just the country is fine. We promise not to stalk you, but it makes it easier for us to help each other on a multinational forum. Thanks!

Evening all,

The L250 was discovered in a small area of the Rio Iriri. Eight were imported into Germany before the area that the came from was designated a protected reserve which has prevented any others from being exported out of Parana.

Rumours abound of the fish being sold in Japan for anything between £1000's and £30,000 each!!!!!

Wow, you are talking about somthing that was exported almost 3 years ago. I don't think it's possible to track them down.
And onces an exotic pleco went into Japan, it's almost impossible to out bid the bidders there.
Anyway, you might want to check this site:
http://aquafin.web.infoseek.co.jp/pleco ... o-top.html
They do have rare pleco and even undescribed plecos from time to time.
Good luck.
Please let us know how your adventure in Brazil went, when you get home.
