Hi everyone!!!

Post by Stevie.K »

Hello everyone from Steve in East Yorkshire.

Thought it was about time i joined in, i have been keeping fish for a lot of years & been keeping & breeding a few Discus for a couple of years now.

That was until i spotted a little fish in Oct 06 a zebra fry!

I didn't buy it,but was fasinated by it & did lots of research on the fish thanks to this site!

I finally took the plunge in January to see if i could look after this high price tag fish, a month later all was well and bought 3 lovely males from Pleco Damo thanks Damien.

I swapped one of these a week later with some else to see if i could get a female, placed in my caves and waited! But nothing

Decided to buy some fry & another mature fish a month ago, possible female to increase my chances of getting a female!

1 week ago she? is trapped in a cave with a male, shall keep you posted  Steve[/b]

Update on fish trapped.

Post by Stevie.K »

Thankyou everybody for your warm welcomes, its nice to join the group to have other people give their knowledge & advice.

My update on my fish trapped.

At first i thought i had another male as i have 4 caves and she was going in and out of the 3 unoccupied, but was extremely fat where her belly looked like it was going to pop!

Then my male moved from the cave he had been in for a couple of months and trapped the other fish in there last wed,i did see her come out a couple of times to feed sat & sun but was trapped in there for a total of 9 days.

She? had left the cave this morning but is still hovering close by the males cave but no eggs this time

Has anybody else experienced this behaviour?

I would say the fish are fully mature as they are both a good 3-4 inches, the male is the bigger.

Better luck next time i hope.
