L046, L098, L173?

whats the difference between these? 
This is a tricky one, as like may things in the world of the Zebra, it is showered with opinions and speculation.
There appears to be two different theories:
1. L98, L173 are actually L46 with the varying degrees of mutation in colour pigmentation. i.e. you can breed 2 L46 and get a L98 or L173.
2. L98 and L173 are entirely different classifications of fish, from the same region of the Xingu.
There is apost here about it somewhere, I'll try and search it out for you.
