Juvenile Grow up tank

Hi Folks
I am planning to move my 12 adults from a 5 footer tank to 2 x 4 footers, split up into 2 breeding groups. I was wondering should I just randomly add in the juveniles (about 10 or 12 of them) or should i have a separate grow up tank for them? They range from 0.5" to 1.2" in length.
My long term plan is to have 2 x 4 footers, 1 x 3 footer. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.
Btw, anyone seen pictures of the actual XIngu habitat of the zebs, underwater? Still searching - hope to replicate as close as possible.
